Because its not about the chocolate

For me it’s about Jesus rising from the dead, giving us eternal life and celebrating that fact.

It’s Holy Week

So it’s Holy Week – almost nearly the end of Lent. So how is everyone doing on their Lenten promises? Well I’ve been doing OK but their have been times when I’ve slipped up. God forgives me because he loves me.

At the weekend we celebrate the sorrow of Jesus’ death and the joy in his rising back to life of which as a Christian I should always be thankful for.

#knitting & #volunteering

I have spent a few hours doing two things that I love to do knit and volunteer. The UK Hand Knitting Association wanted volunteers to help with their Knit 1 Pass it on project stand at the Knitting and Stitching show at the NEC. So I offered!

I’ve had a fabulous afternoon at the show. I did buy a few things but no yarn! I brought a couple of patterns to make a vintage style dress and skirt. I will at some point make them and blog about it. So pleased that I found them!

I then spent the rest of my time not buying yarn but sewing and knitting hearts for the Heartease Project . I’ve had a fabulous few hours and I’ve been inspired to make some. The idea is to give children in care a little knitted heart. They all have a pocket which a positive phrase such as “You are amazing” can be inserted.

I’m so excited about this project! Dear Reader as you know I can’t have kids but will do what I can by being a mother in other ways and help. Motivating others is also very dear to my heart so I think this is an excellent project to get involved in on so many levels.

I’m so grateful for today’s experience and its been a wonderful day!

I’ll post pics of the hearts I make. Even if I brought no yarn today dear reader you know I’ve got loads in my stash! LOL! πŸ˜‰

Making friends with my Sewing Machine

Today started out bad dear reader. I had got up early to go food shopping and just as I was leaving the supermarket my wheels on the trolley bust. I was not happy. I ended up calling a taxi.

I prayed that this was not an omen for the rest of my plans namely playing with my sewing machine. Our relationship is a bit mixed – sometimes we have loads if fun, other times I end up cursing at it something rotten. It had recently had a service. My light I noticed had been fixed, which meant I could see what I was doing.

I had prepped the material – it’s the bit I need for the special project that I am doing – making a banner for Girl’s Brigade. I then re-familiarised myself with the instructions and changed the foot. Then off we went. So smooth and apart from the odd tiny error, the best bit of sewing I’ve done for awhile!

After that I finally hemmed the skirt that I made weeks ago. In all a good sewing session. I’m preparing bits for a another project as well as prepping some fabric for the quilt. Going to spend more time over Easter on it. So thankful of the time spent today.

I’ve achieved a resolution

Over the past couple of days I have managed to achieve an unspoken resolution. I’m so pleased that I’ve done this. I’m also proud of OH as he has achieved the same thing. We have both made steps that sees our future more secure. This I’m thankful for and we are both going to celebrate our joint achievements over a nice roast Chicken and a glass of fizz!
