Day out in Brum

It’s not often that you play tourist in the place you live. Yesterday I did just that and here are some photos.

I dropped off my socks and chocs with Brum’ Busking Bobby and had a wonderful tour with the WI around Singers Hill Synagogue

I finally visited the new Library! Had a great time drinking Hot Blueberry Wine at the German Market and did a bit of Christmas shopping! πŸ˜€

Great day!

#Gluten-Free Product Review Udi’s Toaster Pastries

As ever I don’t get paid for this. It’s just my thoughts on the products I find.

When I was growing up one of the “cult” snacks for children/teenagers were Pop Tarts – little pastry pockets filled with sugar and fruit. Of course being a Coeliac I could never have them ……. Till now! πŸ˜€

Today I discovered Udi’s have brought out Toaster Pastries – basically a Pop Tart but I guess due to copywrite issues they’ve had to come up with another phrase.

I’m not a big fan of Apple flavoured things – a bit picky that way! This is what they look like. Excuse the crumbs….. This is my second one as well I ate the first while blogging….

Obviously yummy! I know I can be a greedy pig but I wouldn’t eat anything again if I didn’t like it! πŸ˜€ The taste isn’t I feel too sweet or even applely (OK so it’s not a word but you know what I mean). Nice as an afternoon treat on a cold afternoon!

Blessings! πŸ˜€

It’s not what you think

If you were to pop round to my house you would be surprised to see my lounge looking a bit depleted of furniture and you would see a fireplace in front of a fireplace. I would explain to you that the furniture had gone to a good home and about the building works and decorating that we are going to be doing. Whilst I went and fixed you a drink you would then cast your eye over to a tub of Cadbury Heroes. You would think that it was left over from the trick and treaters from Halloween. You possibly may have been tempted to open it to take one or two without asking. Honestly it would be fine! Help yourself!

……Except depending on how you roll you may be slightly disappointed in what you would find.

It’s my box of tricks for my latest project! Well it’s not my latest project – it’s a slight change to the method of a project. Dear Reader you may remember me writing about making a KING SIZE QUILT. This has not been going so well and has seen me in tears over my love/hate relationship that I have with my dear sewing machine. Also it has been real s l o w going. Over the year I have been admiring some quilts that have been made using the English Paper Piecing Technique As you can see it’s all done by hand. After doing a bit of research and using this book here I thought I would give it a go! As part of the prep for getting the bits ready for the big quilt I had a few small bits over perfect to use for the pin cushion project (see the book)

As you can see uses up small bits of fabric so not much waste. The result? IMHO a beautiful pin cushion!

I’m very pleased with it and can’t wait to start the rest of the project! πŸ˜€
