So what has a bus stop

Got to do with Advent and the count down to Christmas?

The thing I love about this time of year is that all the Churches have different services on offer. There is usually a few Churches Together events too. Tonight was the Advent service.

The Vicar who gave the Sermon is fascinated with the Real Time bus stops – these are the stops that tell you exactly when the bus is due. Why is this type of stop like Advent? Well if you have an Advent Calendar then you count down the days till Christmas Day. At a Real Time Bus Stop you count down the minutes till the bus arrives.

There is a second meaning to Advent – the looking forward to Christ’s Second Coming. We do not know when that will be. This is like waiting at a normal bus stop with no markers telling you when the bus is due. You know it will come but when? How long will you have to wait? You also have to keep watching and waiting. You can’t pop into the Newsagents near by as it could be that moment when the bus turns up and you’ll miss it. So you have to keep waiting for it to show – and normally in life what’s the betting three will turn up at once? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Blessings! ๐Ÿ˜€
